This workshop will start with a brief overview of the role art and architecture have played in the life of the church throughout the ages. Based on that, we will then explore how the arts may assist in accomplishing our mission in the very diverse and complex world we live in today.

- B1 Harmonizing Ministries: The Relationship Between the Cathedral and Chancery: Very Reverend Miguel González – Rector – St. James Cathedral, Orlando; Carol Brinati – Delegate of the Ordinary, former Chief Operation Officer/Chancellor – Diocese of Orlando: “What is man that you should care for him? You have made him little less than the angels, and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him rule over the works of your hands, putting all things under his feet” (Ps. 8:5-7). If we are called to be the work of God’s hands, flourishing what He tenders to us; what would the God-given relationship between a “Chancery” and “Cathedral” be? In this workshop, we will explore complimenting God’s gifts to flourish His Kingdom on earth.
- B2 Aesthetic Intelligence: Very Rev. Enrique Salvo – Rector – St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York, NY; Very Reverend Michael G. Ryan – Rector – St. James Cathedral, Seattle, WA: “Aesthetic Intelligence” is about creating delight, lifting the human spirit, and rousing the imagination through sensorial experiences. In this interactive workshop, two experienced Cathedral pastors will talk about how we can apply these principles to Cathedral ministry. How can the Catholic commitment to the beautiful come to life in practical ways in our Cathedrals? How can we use beauty and the imagination to enliven our faith, enhance our worship, and evangelize all who enter our doors?
- B3 The Cathedral and the OCIA: Challenges and Opportunities for Evangelization and Conversion: Mary Birmingham, MA – former team member of North American Forum on the Catechumenate, author, clinician, director of music; liturgy; Christian Initiation: This session will explore the ways in which the Order of Christian Initiation is a model of evangelization for all people in ministry. It will explore the ways in which conversion is at the heart of the OCIA process and the way in which flexibility regarding people’s various life circumstances is built into the rite. Cathedral ministry reaches out to people from all walks of life at various times throughout the year. They do not always conform to our schedules and calendars. We will delve into ways that we can practically reach out and provide formation for our unique cathedral experience.
